The special price on Topaz Simplify ($27.99) available until the end of May 2015, makes the collection of filters an interesting option and a bargain for those looking for some extra filters in their special effects collection.

From May onwards, until there are no more flowers left in the fields, I will run a series of workshops on photographing flowers. Not with a macro, but with any other lens you may have. Like a zoom.
I received yesterday a new filter to test. Today I could not resist. I had to go out and create some pictures, to check how neutral this new Neutral Density filter is. First images suggest this abides by the promise made when the filter was first announced. And yes, it is a filter for long exposures or shallow depth of field. You choose.
The palace the composer Richard Strauss points as the Holy Grail Castle, is less than 6 kilometers away from my kitchen window. My 100-400mm lens gives me a good sharp image of it in a clear night, with the white balance adjusted to show the full colours of the fairy-tale palace.
Next weekend I am taking some people out to a place that asks for a Black & White treatment, so this may be a good time to talk about the absence of colour. And suggest some presets for Lightroom or Photoshop.
