I received yesterday a new filter to test. Today I could not resist. I had to go out and create some pictures, to check how neutral this new Neutral Density filter is. First images suggest this abides by the promise made when the filter was first announced. And yes, it is a filter for long exposures or shallow depth of field. You choose.

According to one of the “rules” in photography, you should only be out photographing the early and late hours of the day, when magic light happens, it seems. Nothing against it, as long as you leave those landscapes free of photographers for me...
I managed, today, to have a little time to do some more testing of the close focus capacity of the new EF 100-400mm from Canon. I wrote here before that my macro could stay home many times. Well, it surely looks like that. And you ain’t seen nothing yet!
The palace the composer Richard Strauss points as the Holy Grail Castle, is less than 6 kilometers away from my kitchen window. My 100-400mm lens gives me a good sharp image of it in a clear night, with the white balance adjusted to show the full colours of the fairy-tale palace.
While there is a lot of information published about getting good surfing photos from land, not many is said about being ready for action when hell breaks loose... over a surfer. The moments just before and after are crucial to tell a story.
